SCARS Technician I

Location: Jacksonville, FL

Reports to: Scars Manager

SUMMARY

At GORUCK, we build the toughest rucking gear on the planet and back it with our legendary Scars Lifetime Guarantee. As a SCARS Technician I, you enter the ground floor of an elite crew of craftsmen. This is an entry-level position for a sewer with experience in durable fabrics and technical gear who wants to master the art of heavy-duty repair and manufacturing. We will teach you the GORUCK construction standard, but you must bring the grit, attention to detail, and work ethic required to earn your place on the team.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Technical Repair Apprenticeship: Learn and execute standard repairs and customizations on GORUCK gear, apparel, and footwear, ensuring the finished result is always better than when it arrived.
  • Industrial Equipment Operation: Master the setup and operation of industrial sewing machines (Juki), patch presses, and heavy-duty materials like Cordura, canvas, and mil-spec webbing.
  • Queue Tracking & Documentation: Organize, log, and accurately report on your assigned repair pipeline using workshop databases and spreadsheets.
  • Shop Floor Support: Collaborate with the Scars Coordinator and product teams to manage logistics, audit job tickets, organize incoming product shipments, and process returns.
  • Relentless Execution: Maintain a self-motivated, highly organized workspace while tackling secondary shop tasks with a "no task is too small" attitude.

WHO YOU ARE

  • Experience: Prior experience operating sewing machinery or working with durable materials (canvas, ballistic nylon, leather, upholstery, or similar rugged fabrics).
  • Operational Literacy: High school diploma or equivalent; ability to interpret job tickets, enter production data into a computer, and express yourself clearly with a close-knit team.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to safely operate heavy repair equipment and handle a physical workload, including lifting up to 20 pounds.
  • Drive & Alignment: Strong time-management skills, a problem-solving attitude, and a commitment to workplace safety laws and trade standards.

WHY GORUCK

  • Zero corporate fluff: We train hard, move fast, and back everything with a lifetime guarantee.
  • Own the flow: You aren't managing a process; you’re shaping the company’s strategic direction from the ground floor.
  • Real perks: GORUCK-sponsored insurance, 401(k), and generous PTO.
  • The Community: Unlimited, free entry to GORUCK events and deep discounts on gear.
  • The Team: You’ll work with teammates who believe in earning it, leading from the front, and prioritizing relentless execution.

Note: This job description isn't a static contract—roles evolve, and we expect you to evolve with them. GORUCK is an equal opportunity employer. We hire based on merit, character, and grit, and we do not tolerate discrimination. If you need a reasonable accommodation to perform this role, let us know.
